patterns ,software architecture

PATTERNS
A pattern for software architecture describes a particular recurring design problem that arises in specific design contexts, and presents a well proven generic scheme for its solution. i.e patterns are not invented or created arificially, rather they are distilled and provide a means to reuse the design knowledge.
patterns support the construction of software with defined properties hence help in building complex and heterogeneous software architecture.

SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE
A software architecture is a result of technical business and social influence. Its existance inturn affects the technical business and social environment, that subsequently influences future achitecture
